More about the Equity Coalition

This committee works collaboratively with the district and its board of directors on issues related to elevating the learning and experiences of all students and families, especially those who have been and remain marginalized. The Equity Coalition serves as the school district’s Equity Advisory Committee, in accordance with ORS 328.542.

The committee is composed of certified, classified, and administrative school district staff, as well as students, family members, and community partners.

Advisory Groups and Partnerships

In accordance with our Equity Stance, we are committed to partnering with our community to co-design student-centered systems that best match our region’s needs and values, even as they change. In our innovation and decision-making processes, we actively seek the voices and partnership of those we most often marginalize.

One of the ways we do this is through family, student, and/or community advisory and partnership groups. Currently we have the following groups meeting regularly:

  • Latino Family Advisory
  • Black Family & Student Union
  • LGBTQIA2S+ Alliance
  • Equity Coalition

In addition, we also have several student groups and organizations at most of our secondary schools. These groups include:

  • GSAs
  • Multicultural Clubs
  • Student Voice Council
  • and many others!

For more information on these student, family, and community advisory and partnership groups, please contact the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
