Facilities and Maintenance

The Facilities and Maintenance team ensures our school buildings and grounds are safe, clean and functional for students, staff and visitors.

The team is responsible for heating and ventilation, plumbing, electrical work, fire alarms, custodial services, safety inspections, and repairs. The Facilities Development office manages school construction and renovations. School rentals are managed through the Facilities Use office.

Custodial

The Custodial Department is responsible for maintaining clean, safe, healthy learning environments across all district facilities. Our teams provide daily cleaning, preventive care, and rapid response support, while working closely with schools to ensure spaces are welcoming and well-maintained. We take pride in our work and in supporting students, staff, and the community through dependable service and stewardship of district facilities.

Facilities Development

The Facilities Development Office is responsible for the successful implementation of capital improvement bond programs, planning for future bond programs, and managing capital projects outside of the maintenance department purview. It is the responsibility of Facilities Development to complete these projects on time, within budget, and to the highest degree of quality possible, while adhering to District sustainability objectives.

The Maintenance Department is responsible for the repair, upkeep, and long-term care of district facilities and systems. Our teams provide preventive maintenance, emergency response, and skilled trade support while prioritizing energy efficiency, resource conservation, and cost-effective solutions. We are committed to protecting district assets, reducing environmental impact, and supporting safe, uninterrupted learning.

Facilities Use

Individuals and community groups may schedule use of Bend-La Pine Schools facilities during non-school hours, as schedules permit and by permission of the school site. District-sponsored activities, including co-curricular functions, have priority. We do not schedule events more than 6 months in advance. The facility user must agree to all terms and conditions, including certificate of liability insurance. Alcohol, tobacco, vapes or drugs are not allowed on school district property.

Doug Pigman

Executive Director of Facilities

Doug Pigman brings over two decades of expertise in construction and facilities management, including seven years as a general contractor and more than 15 years as Facilities Director for Greater Albany Public Schools. Doug has a track record of transforming teams into first-rate, cohesive, high-achieving units. As Executive Director of Facilities, Doug orchestrates ambitious, large-scale projects and cutting-edge facilities management programs. His leadership ensures sustainable, cost-effective solutions that support safe, well-maintained learning environments.

Rodger Moore

Director of Facility Operations

Rodger Moore has served as Director of Facility Operations for Bend-La Pine Schools since August 2025. He oversees maintenance and custodial services with a focus on preventive maintenance, sustainability, and responsible stewardship of public funds. Rodger brings more than 30 years of facility management experience in the affordable housing industry and leads with a people-first approach rooted in service, accountability, and long-term care of district facilities.

Dan Dummitt

Assistant Director of Maintenance

Dan Dummitt started with Bend-La Pine School in January 2004 as the electrical foreman. Later he was named building services manager, then maintenance supervisor, and now serves as Assistant Director of Maintenance. He has 16 years of electrical construction background, including as an electrical foreman wiring many schools for the Bend-La Pine district and in Culver.

Rob Johnson

Custodial Supervisor

Rob Johnson has been with Bend-La Pine Schools since 2011 and has held roles in Transportation, Maintenance and Custodial Services. He started his current position in 2020, where he manages and works directly with the custodial team to keep schools safe and clean for students and staff. Prior to joining the District, Rob owned and operated a security and fire alarm company in Northern California for 18 years. He holds a degree in Business and Finance from Cal Poly Humboldt.

Anne Birky

Facilities Support Supervisor

Anne Birky has worked in the district for over 19 years. She is the Facilities Support Supervisor, overseeing the business management of maintenance and facilities services across more than 40 district buildings and 650+ acres of grounds. Anne has helped secure over $2.5 million in energy incentives through sustainability initiatives and regional partnerships.

Anne leads with a strong commitment to stewardship of resources and building meaningful, trust-based relationships with employees, district colleagues, and community partners, while managing multimillion-dollar budgets, supervising staff, and working alongside an exceptional Maintenance team to ensure safe, healthy, and comfortable learning spaces for students and staff.

Angus Eastwood

Assistant Director of Facility Development

Angus Eastwood first started with the Bend La-Pine Schools as a project manager on the 2006 Bond program, later becoming the Assistant Director of Facilities Development overseeing the implementation of the 2013 and 2017 bonds and currently the 2022 Bond. Prior to working for Bend-La Pine Angus managed the 2004 Redmond School District bond. With 29 years of experience, he started his career working for a construction management firm in the private sector, managing projects including hospitals, libraries, fire stations, and schools.
