Information Technology

Information Technology oversees the technology used by students and district staff to support robust instruction and learning as well as efficient operations.

It is responsible for student iPads and other devices, computers, TVs and other audio/visual equipment, Carousel digital signs, printers, and phones. IT also provides systems support for Synergy and other applications and data services. Our Engineering team supports wired and wireless networks, safety systems, Internet security, identity and login systems, and technology for construction projects.

Scott McDonald

Director of Information Technology

Scott McDonald has served as IT Director for Bend-La Pine Schools since 2021, leading a team of 30 technology staff. He brings 26 years of experience in the district, including 10 years as an Ed Tech Instructional Coach and 10 years in the classroom. He also taught for two years at the International School in Rotterdam, Netherlands. Scott has called Bend home since 1976.

Vince Valenti

Assistant IT Director Infrastructure and Security

Vince Valenti serves as Assistant IT Director of Infrastructure and Security, having joined the district in 2008 and bringing a lifelong career in IT. He leads the district’s infrastructure and engineering teams, overseeing the design, reliability, and protection of its technology systems. With deep expertise in network and systems architecture and cybersecurity, Vince is committed to providing safe, secure, dependable access to technology for staff and students, while driving continuous improvement, managing risk, and supporting both innovation and day-to-day operational stability.

Chad Brewer

Assistant IT Director Client Services

Chad Brewer joined Bend-La Pine Schools in 2004 working as an IT field technician. Since then, he has held roles in Systems Administration, Systems Engineering and now the Assistant IT Director of Client Services. With a passion for automation and scalability, Chad strives to implement technology solutions that benefit all staff and students at Bend-La Pine Schools. He leads the Client Services team in their common goal to provide timely, personalized technology support in our schools and support sites.

Patrick Elliott

Assistant IT Director Application & Data Services

Patrick Elliott is an experienced K-12 IT leader with over 24 years supporting students, staff, and district systems. As IT Assistant Director at Bend-La Pine Schools, he oversees student information systems, data services, and key applications that support daily operations. He also leads Oregon’s OSIS Steering Committee, working with districts and ESDs to strengthen collaboration, data practices, and system effectiveness across the state.
