Bend-La Pine Online

For grades K-5 BLPO offers:

• Full-time online enrollment 
• Part-time online enrollment combined with part-time homeschool enrollment with High Desert ESD or private school
• Students who are served on Individual Education Plans and 504s are served at their home school. 

Our elementary program focuses on high academic standards along with a positive online community. Students meet virtually multiple times a week with our dedicated Bend-La Pine support teachers. These support teachers meet with individual students, grade level groups, and the class as a whole. The elementary students also have optional in-person “meet ups” to connect with peers.

In order to be successful in Bend-La Pine’s full time option, students should expect to spend 5 to 6 hours a day engaged in classwork and meetings with teachers and other students.

For grades 6-8 BLPO offers:

• Full-time online enrollment 
• Full time online students can engage with their home school's activities
• Part-time online enrollment combined with part-time homeschool or private school 
• Supplemental online enrollment to accelerate in math or world language, with counselor and administrator permission. This work is in addition to the course work at the school site.
• Students who are served on Individual Education Plans and 504s are served at their home school. 

Full time students who are enrolled in 3 or more online courses must maintain a 2.0 GPA to be enrolled in a future online course.

Available courses for full time students can be found in the Middle School Course List. Other courses are not available at this time to part-time middle school students. Exceptions can be made for medical hardships. Discussions with Middle School counselors, medical staff and Administrative staff are necessary for enrollment.

BLPO is a program, not a school, and does not employ or enact special education services. We share details with K12/Stride staff. Please work with your case manager and counselor to consider if BLPO is the right choice of course work for you if you receive special education services. 

Our online middle school program provides an engaging and rigorous program with live virtual opportunities to meet with Stride/K12 teachers. For a more structured school day routine, families may choose to enroll in classes with our dedicated Bend-La Pine support teacher. Middle school students should expect to spend 5 to 6 hours a day engaging in course work.

UPDATE: In the past, many middle school students took a full year (32 weeks) of Math or World Language course in the summer.  An update and change in practice is that a full year (32 weeks) of an online course is no longer available. We recommend students taking the first semester of an online course in addition to regular course load during the second semester, followed by the second semester of the course during the summer session. This change has occurred due to best practices in student learning. Additionally, with increased financial constraints, we are no longer able to support the costs from our vendors and staffing that the additional classes require.

For grades 9-12 BLPO offers:

• Full-time online enrollment
• Full-time online students can engage with their home school's activities

• Part-time online enrollment combined with part-time homeschool or private school 

• Part-time online enrollment combined with part-time on-site schooling (when guidelines are met)

• Students who are served on Individual Education Plans and 504s are served at their home school. 

Students who are enrolled in 3 or more courses must maintain a 2.0 GPA to be enrolled in a future online course.

BLPO follows all Bend-La Pine policies related to drop timelines.

We have NCAA-approved courses. Please check with your counselor for proper enrollment.

Credit recovery options are available. Please check with your counselor for proper enrollment.

Students are restricted to one course more than a full load at a time (8 courses total for Semester schools; 6 courses total for Trimester schools).

High School Course List

High Schools provide a space where students can have a class period assigned to their online course. A Bend-La Pine staff member staffs the POLO (Proctored Online Learning Option) Lab. Attendance is taken in the POLO lab, however, credit is not earned for this period. Staff members are well-versed in the K12 platform and can help facilitate communication with teachers as well as communicate progress in the course.

Course offerings in the summer are far more limited than during the year due to the courses available from our provider. A list of available courses will be provided to counselors in the spring. Generally, there are no electives offered. 

Our summer programming is now restricted to 1 semester course during the 8 weeks of summer school or 2 High School Credit Recovery courses.  Registration for Summer online courses occurs through the school counselor during forecasting. 

Students taking Summer Online courses will be able to keep district supplied iPads on the years when iPads are rolled in. BLPO staff will work with Librarians and IT staff to assure that the tools continue to be available to students.
