High School Course Offerings - Guidelines for Enrollment

Students may only take courses utilizing Bend-La Pine Online (BLPO) if the home school does not offer the course in person. If a course is offered at the school, that in-person course will be prioritized over an equivalent online course. In-person elective courses will also be prioritized over online elective options.  This is a change from previous practices and the goal is to make sure students feel successful and supported in their in-person classes.

Online Practices:

• Original Credit Courses: Students may take original credit courses through Bend-La Pine Online only if the course is currently not offered at their home school.
• Credit Recovery: Students must be placed in a Proctored Online Learning Option (POLO) Section if they are taking a course for credit recovery and have room in their schedule. These students should have a full schedule.
• Eligibility: Students are not able to continue online courses if they have failed 1 or more online classes previously.
• Extenuating circumstance that will be considered:
  • Taking credit recovery class without space in schedule for POLO
  • Full-time or Partial day (3+ classes) online as reviewed by a school administrator and school counselor.
  • Scheduling conflict: (ie: class is only offered at same time as another class that is only offered then.)

For the remainder of the 2025-26 school year:

Students will be allowed to take the second semester of a course that is offered in person if they have already completed the 1st semester online successfully during this school year. (ex: if a student completed US History online 1st semester, they could continue 2nd semester, if desired). Starting in 2026-27, only extenuating circumstances will be considered for review.
