Choice Option Schools

Non-Neighborhood Choice Enrollment

In addition to neighborhood schools, Bend-La Pine Schools offers multiple options to meet the individual needs of its students. Choice enrollment is the process of requesting to attend a school other than your neighborhood school. Choice enrollment requests are not guaranteed approval, and we always recommend families start by checking out their neighborhood school.

  • January 2, 2026: Choice lottery enrollment application opened in ParentVUE

Entry into the Choice Options lottery, Dual Immersion lottery, and Area Change Requests all require a current enrollment into Bend-La Pine Schools for the school year requested.

Student transportation: For students accepted to attend a Choice Options school, limited bus service is available. The District offers transportation to Choice Options schools from designated central locations. Neighborhood routes are not provided. In addition, families must provide their own transportation for students granted an Area Change Request.

Inter-District Transfers

If you would like to transfer your student into Bend-La Pine Schools and live outside of the district, please contact your resident school district to begin the transfer process. Transfers across district lines require permission from both districts.

Students who live in the boundaries of other school districts may request transfer into BLS schools, and students who live in the BLS district may ask for permission to attend schools in other districts. There are state laws that govern the inter-district transfer process. Generally, inter-district transfer decisions are made in the spring for the following school year.

Families always have the right to return to their home school in their resident district.

Mid-Year Choice Options Lottery & ACR applications:

There will be no mid-year Area Change Requests approved for the 2025-26 school year.

The only mid-year exception is for families that have moved and are requesting to stay at their current school.
