Educational Technology

At Bend-La Pine Schools, we believe schools must address the challenges of today and provide the skills students need to be future ready.
Students today need strong collaboration, creativity, and research skills to be successful in college, careers, and life. Thoughtful use of technology can support these skills, giving students opportunities to explore ideas, work together, and learn at their own pace. Our focus is on using the right tools at the right time to better meet the diverse needs of every student.
Effective use of technology leads to creative and innovative experiences inside the classroom and helps enable students to become critical thinkers, collaborators and communicators, global learners, and digital citizens.

What to expect in the classroom
High quality teaching is the number one influence on student learning. Our use of technology allows educators to provide every student access to educational resources and the opportunity to develop the skills they need.
Technology may be used on its own, paired with traditional approaches, or set aside entirely. The goal is to give students diverse learning options that strengthen their overall education.
At each level—elementary, middle, and high school—technology is integrated in different ways depending on the class, assignment, or learning goal.
Digital Citizenship
Future ready learning requires teaching students responsible behavior when using technology - proper care of their device, legal use of content, establishment of an online presence, online safety and cyberbullying prevention.
At Bend-La Pine Schools we strive to provide our students with the skills to think critically, behave safely and participate responsibly in a digital world.
To ensure that technology is used in a safe, positive and responsible manner, we utilize the curriculum and lessons from Wayfinder to teach digital citizenship concepts, such as:
- Media balance and well-being
- Privacy and security
- Digital footprint and identity
- Relationships and communication
- Cyberbullying, digital drama, and hate speech
- News and media literacy
Digital Tools & Apps Evaluation
Digital Tools are collaboratively evaluated by our curriculum, IT, equity, EdTech, and legal teams to rigorously vet every resource.
We evaluate each tool for:
Academic quality
Data privacy and security
Accessibility for all learners
Technical compatibility
To be approved for use, tools must:
Meet all district standards
Comply with federal requirements
Undergo regular re-evaluation based on contract cycles
As part of our ongoing evaluation of instructional tools, the app library is reviewed regularly and updated each year by September.
